SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – The Sioux City Community School District increases the use of technology in the classroom.
The US Department of Education has designated the Sioux City Community Schools a “Future Ready” District.
Friday, Sioux City teachers showcased their hard work at the Educational Service Center.
The teachers teamed up this summer to transform classrooms into future-ready units.
The program will provide learning opportunities and ensure teachers are ready to utilize and benefit from technology.
Incorporating technology in the classroom improves student engagement and creates active learners.
“When you talk about the 21st-century learner technology is part of that so creating classrooms that are successfully using technology and engaging students in just good learning but incorporating the use of technology just really benefits students in a number of ways,” said Kim Buryanek, Associate Superintendent for Sioux City Schools
Over 100 teachers have been involved in the future-ready program in the last three years.
